Since 1995, ATEN has been providing donated computers to schools throughout Illinois. ATEN is administered by Infinitec-UCP Chicago with funding from the Illinois State Board of Education as authorized by the Illinois School Code.
ATEN accepts recyclable computers and other technology items from private donors for transfer to Illinois schools which serve children with disabilities. Corporations who are replacing old equipment with new donate most of the technology recycled by ATEN.
Before sending equipment to schools, ATEN checks and refurbishes it as needed. Every computer distributed by ATEN is loaded with the Windows operating system and office suite software (WP, SS, DB, Email). Computers distributed by ATEN are guaranteed to work. ATEN also carefully matches the school's needs with the equipment available.
Our Success
Because of its win-win philosophy, which makes "winners" of everyone involved in the program (time and equipment donors, partners, schools), ATEN realizes a return of $3 for every $1 invested in the program!. As of May 2002, ATEN - Received donated equipment from more than 700 businesses and individuals
- Distributed 18,953 computer systems as well as more than many thousands of printers, touch screens, software packages and other items to schools throughout the state
- Served 506 schools in 305 Illinois cities and towns.
